Friday 10th February

đGood Morning and welcome to 11 new subscribers, youâre in great companyđ Itâs been a weekâŚAmerica popped Chinaâs balloon, Melbourne had snow in summer and Australia gives King Charles the boot from the five dollarydoo note.
đThings you may have missedđ
đ¤ŻThe BIG storiesđ¤Ż

The hype surrounding ChatGPT has been insane, just go on LinkedIn to see âthe best promptsâ or âhow itâs going to change everything!â This has naturally put Googleâs nose out of joint and after poor earnings again, the tech behemoth has teased Bard, its LLM rival.
CGPT created a RED ALERT at Google, where the TikTok influencers put down their acai bowls and beetroot smoothies to rush to launch Bard, with $300m injected to ensure rollout ASAP. We are witnessing the next evolution of search, although if youâve f**ked around with any AI tool, the accuracy can be very hit & miss at times.

Hold ya horsesâŚMerely 24 hours after this announcement, Bing enters the room with its feathers up, shoulders back, and strutting in red bottomsâŚMicrosoft announced that Bing, & Edge browsers will be powered by ChatGPT AI.
Did the boomers know something we didnât? Were we sleeping on Edge/Internet Explorer all this time?! But, but, but. It doesnât stop there. Itâs also incorporating AI into its productivity suite - i.e. Word, Powerpoint, Microsoft Teams! Who knew this space could be so thrilling?
đCool & Creativ3đ

To all of those that still use Reels, youâll probably see this next year so a quick update if you werenât awareâŚDeinfluencing is a hot new trend (check the numbers) where TikTokers are calling BS on products theyâve been made to buy and that are just a bit sh*t.
Marketers, this is a warning. The influencers are sentient! The golden days of paying to push a product and have a micro ambassador spruik your products, even if they donât use them. No one is safe!
đStudies & Researchđ

HERE WE GO! Gartner creates another speculative look at the next 8 years with Emerging Technologies - in a diagram made by consultants for consultants. This yearâs Emerging Technology radar is brought to you by such terms as neuromorphic computing, synthetic data, and everyoneâs favourite, hyper-automation in security!
Despite plowing billions of $$$ into the Metaverse, Zuck will have to wait 6-8 years for the lift-off of his utopia. In all seriousness, Gartner has been very conservative this year and without subject knowledge in everything, I look forward to the future with our robot overlords.
đ¤Technology & Trackingđ¤

Whatâs old is new, whatâs new is old. Welcome to advertising, where we constantly reinvent or ctrl+v whatâs worked in previous yearsâŚYouTube has launched a Cost Per Hour masthead to âown moments critical to your business.â Basically, home page takeovers are back in vogue but with added Connected screens for HIGH IMPACTâŚ
An interesting one. On the one hand, itâs a tried & tested formula for selling ads but Masthead per hour also gets you eyeballs on those important Connected TV screens. A smart tactic to be amongst the noise in high-impact placements, it just doesnât feel very innovative to me.
đąBest of the Netđą

Finally, following last weekâs Widget where I shared an article about Nineâs Tennis TV ratings - Iâd like to apologize to Alex Trumble forâŚ
