🤯The BIG stories🤯

This week in all things Elon…Twitter let’s go over 80% of contractors, announce that they are removing 80% of microservices (i.e. Multi factor authentication), there are rumours of sackings after speaking out against the memelord, Twitter verification of fake accounts has wiped billions off of stock markets and advertisers are pulling out due to (wait for it)…Elon.

Sheesh. It’s not getting any better, is it? There are rumours of Elon purposefully pushing Twitter to bankruptcy to clear out assets, which I can’t see happening but damn Twitter has never been this alive. Is this the master plan? Oh, and SpaceX is advertising on the platform in a big way

Nike Dot Swoosh Metaverse Is Nike's Web3 Platform on Blockchain for NFTs | Complex

Some of my fondest memories of my childhood were going on Nike ID and designing an outrageous pair of football boots that my parents would never buy me… Nike has taken that insight from me and doubled down on web3 and virtual goods with its new Dot Swoosh platform.

Kidding. This is a very smart approach from Nike who are already experimenting in this space with the RTFKT acquisition and Nikeland in Roblox. Dot Swoosh allows consumers to build their own trainers, as well as buy and trade with other creators. Big shout out to Zoe Scaman on all her work on the power of community and fandom, an excellent example.

To What Extent Do US Adults Find Ads on Linear TV vs. Streaming Services to Be Repetitive? (% of respondents, Sep 2021)

ā€œWhat do we want? Fewer ads! When do we want them? Now! Wait really? Didn’t our stock just tank? Nope, okay cool. Got it.ā€ YouTube announces the global launch of target frequency to help improve the accuracy & effectiveness of audience reach.

Simply put, YouTube wants to lower the number of ads and repetition in order to deliver more effective campaigns for advertisers. This a very interesting perspective, given the ad load on YouTube is pretty horrendous. Does anyone have the stats of amount of people moving to YouTube Premium?
