Things You Should Know 👀

Oh GAID, we’re all doomed! Google has turned up the heat, as they announce the Privacy Sandbox will roll out to Android devices that will prevent cross-site/app tracking akin to Apple. Poor old Facebook ay?
Google announced that Privacy sandbox will roll out, operating without the advertising ID
Existing ad features will be supported for at least 2 years
Topics & FLEDGE are the frameworks for showing relevant content & ads, attribution reporting APIs will help with measurement
Testing begins later this year
We all saw this coming, didn’t we? Good to see that Google has approached this in a more constructive manner than Apple, providing advertisers & partners time to plan

There are some adages that we hear a lot in Media land. “Print is dead”, “Programmatic is all remnant inventory”, “Facebook is great, buy it, please?!”. One that has been an SEO in-joke for a while now, is that “Google Search is dead”. But is it?
A very interesting deep-dive that covers the latest issues & concerns with Googles. Too many ads, AI too intuitive, and gaming the SEO algorithms, plus how platforms like Reddit & YouTube are being utilized more. A real chin-stroker
Cool Stuff😎

Tones & I, nah. Tame Impala, nah. The Wiggles?! Yes. Where? Snap is demonstrating the power & untapped potential of the Maps feature, as it partners with Ticketmaster to match users to concerts in their area
Did someone say Super App? Once you’ve decided on who you’d like to see near you, you’re then taken to the Ticketmaster site - a one-stop shop, injecting some life into the suffering live-music industry.
What we’ve learned📚

Since the Music industry moved to streaming platforms, artists have been up in arms at how much money they make. Now, artists are looking into new mediums and Ye has the smartest of them all…
Kanye launched the Stem player for his recent album Donda, where you can chop the different elements of the song, and is launching Donda 2 exclusively on Stem. It was announced he made $2.2m on the first day, or as West puts it “To earn the $2.2 million we made on the first day on the stem player the album would have had to stream 500 million times”.
The Nerd Corner🤓

One audio platform to rule them all. Spotify made some quietly brilliant acquisitions recently, which appears to signal a move to dominate the buy & sell-side in Audio.
Alright, let’s dive in shall we?
Spotify has purchased Chartable & Podsights, months after Megaphone & Whooshka
Chartable is an analytics platform that allows Spotify to track audience growth & how users are finding podcasts
Podsights is a quasi ad-serving platform, to see how many people were exposed to ads & has attribution built-in
It feels very similar to Google’s domination of Display as they’re bolstering their ad-stack to measure, attribute & target users better
