Things You Should Know 👀
The Apple tax is getting ugly, real fast. If you didn’t know Apple takes a 15-30% cut on all apps in its app store, as well as the in-game purchases. Why 30%? Its origins, believe it or not, are linked to Nintendo charging a fee for game cartridges.
Anyway, two big stories from the past week…
Apple doesn’t look like backing down anytime soon, and following the Epic lawsuit, I wonder how long this hefty fee will remain.
One of the most common questions in the advertising and agency world currently? No, it’s not “are you back in the office yet”. Instead, it’s what the effects of iOS14.5 on Facebook & eCommerce? Alright, maybe it is the other one.
Anywhoo, this goldmine analyses 200+ eComm brands globally standardized to a 7 day click attribution, and damn the results are fascinating! I wonder why Facebook aren’t publishing these? Oh, right, yeah.

Oh yes, oh yes. you know what time it is! It’s the most wonderful time of the year when brands virtue signal and spend millions on adverts that have a heartwarming tagline that fuels the consumerism flame!

What will 2022 hold? Flying cars, cat crypto, anti-truthers? From a platform perspective, I think we’ll see much more of an empathetic approach - case in point, Instagram testing ‘Take a Break.’
A small feature that speaks volumes, following a very testing year even the golden child has had a rough ride. This feature is currently in testing and my thesis is that big tech pivots more into empathy, but by admitting no fault of their own(obviously)
