Things you may have missed🏖
Things You Should Know 👀

This week has been bad for many…Gladys, Melbournians-with all of the false weather predictions and Facebook. Zuck & Clegg have been in PR overdrive as not only do they suffer an outage but also, a whistleblower goes on 60 minutes.
Crikey, one to forget. Especially if your net worth dropped $6bn in 5 hours. Also, rumours that some people had to post their healthy meals on Linkedin! #Thoughts&Prayers
Well, well, well, how the turntables have turned…Two weeks after Criteo, yes Criteo, condemned Google’s FLoC origin trial. Google announce that FLoC & FLEDGE tests are moving to Q1 2022
The Criteo article, all jokes aside, is a great read and analysis. The FLEDGE video is a simple explainer of a complicated topic, far simpler than FLoC that’s for sure.
Cool Stuff😎

Let’s just call it how it is. Balenciaga are very good at advertising. The high fashion brand has once again hit a Homer run, as they partner with the Simpsons to launch their Summer 22 collection
The 10-minute episode features the beloved family from Springfield in their latest collection. Once again putting the fashion brand in and amongst culture, after dropping into Fortnite last week.
What we’ve learned📚

A fake presentation to Goldman Sachs for $40m funding, claiming they delivered trillions of impressions and 25m newsletter subscribers. Ozy Media is the media car crash you can’t take your eyes off…
The Fyre Fest of media publications. After the story was released from NYT last week, more and more allegations and scandals flooded out. This deep dive looks at how they’ve inflated numbers, bought fake traffic and scammed investors!

Too big to fail, too big to ignore? TikTok has been flossing & two-stepping into the mainstream for the past 5 years and with 1bn users, plus Facebook issues - is the time now to test & invest?
A great article from Eric Seufert, that unpacks the numbers from last week’s announcement and how it needs to be seen as a tool in mobile advertisers’ arsenal - not sure scale arguments work anymore…
The Nerd Corner🤓

“THEY TOOK OUR JOOOOHHBBBS! It’s a classic rug pull, they’ve only given us 2 years to prepare for the future!” As a Digital Marketing coalition looks to fight Google’s monopoly of the open web.
Some very good points in here. Yes, it should be open source and it should be widely shared. But, the thing that really lets it down? They’re fighting to protect their $40bn revenue, not the privacy of users or the freedom of the open web.
