Things You Should Know 👀

In surprising news this week, celebrities have a penchant for illicit substances & Kmart plates. In MORE surprising news, Apple has started prompting users for consent rather than being turned on by default
Originally turned on by default, Apple will now request consent to deliver personalised ads but the pop-up is drastically different from what apps got to show users. iCloud Private relay to be disabled by default too!

The big unveil! No, not Tomayisu to Arsenal. Reddit has opted out of programmatic advertising and launched another premium ad placement, pinned at the top of conversations.
A Reddit spokesman on transfer deadline day said “i’m delighted with the new ad placement, it’s exactly what we were after and brings together a strong offering”
Cool Stuff😎

Our generation had Tony Hawks Pro Skater, a banging soundtrack, and CKY2K. This generation has Roblox, a $45bn company that immerses kids & teens in its metaverse as Vans launches its own skate world
Another brand playing in Roblox, following Gucci, Hasbro, and many others. A great partnership and if the Olympics didn’t inspire future skaters, this partnership surely will!
What we’ve learned📚

What a LOOT! Web3 is moving faster than removalists through Victoria, the latest craze in the NFT world? An open-source game, that relies on communities to build worlds from the items that they received.
It takes a little bit of reading and research to fully understand this project, but it’s all based upon imagination and a free project, is worth millions overnight

Who would’ve thought that a company that harvests your data in China, is less trusted than companies that harvest your data in America?! Crazy right? But apparently, the average joe is more receptive to ads on TikTok.
Podcasts are still a trusted medium, receptivity has increased 3% from last year. I personally love them as you have a skip 30s button, a genius user design.
The Nerd Corner🤓
I’ve got a pitch for you all…An ad exchange, on the blockchain. Sounds like alchemy right? Alkimi actually. The first decentralized audience exchange, read up nerds!
Love this project and a bit surprised it’s taken this long for someone to jump on blockchain for advertising. It will clean up a very muddy ecosystem and could answer many prayers for publishers

🚨Uh-oh!🚨The contextual klaxon is going off again. This time a neuro-insight study from IAS, looking at how contextually matched ads deliver better results essentially - mixed in with lots of OTT science & brain chat.
Don’t get me wrong, it’s an interesting study that goes beyond traditional survey data but boy do we have a lot of money to investigate capitalism.
