AI's new heights & the never-ending twitter threads 🧵

👋Hello! Welcome to the 11 new subs this week, pleasure having you here.👋 This week wasn’t going to focus on all things AI but the news cycle is unavoidably AI , so pull up a chair. In the news? We narrowly avoided a financial crisis after SVB made some dodgy decisions, so do we trust crypto again now that banks are unmasked? Elsewhere, more geopolitically tension and Arsenal are still good.
👀Things you may have missed👀
🤯The BIG stories🤯
Announcing GPT-4, a large multimodal model, with our best-ever results on capabilities and alignment: openai.com/product/gpt-4

If you thought LinkedIn, Twitter, and YouTube were terrible before, with all of the ChatGPT listicles and reasons it would change the world. Well, prepare yourself for the ChatGPT-4 onslaught. IT’S MULTIMODAL!
Okay, but seriously, this evolution of OpenAI’s ChatGPT is seriously impressive. Multi-modal means it can understand multiple modes of content - image, video, and text. So it could tell you what your plant is dying of, show you ways to treat it, and create a video of why you suck at life.
It is still flawed, still limited, and it still seems more impressive on first use than it does after you spend more time with it.
Google hits back with a full integration of AI across Google Workspace.
Includes generating images, presentations, emails, docs and more all within Google Workspace.

Elsewhere, Google (you remember them, the company that started that ancient technology called search) have come to the AI party, and they brought a keg! The Silicon Valley sweetheart has integrated AI across Google Workspace.
Ooft! This looks pretty special. Clients can finally sleep easy knowing that they don’t have to spend their time writing poxy briefs for agencies and agencies can create pitch decks in 10 minutes. WIN WIN
😎Cool & Creative😎

Excusez-moi, monsieur le robot, pouvez-vous passer le test de Turing? Get ready for your favourite apps to add advanced elements via AI. Duolingo has launched a new subscription model that leverages ChatGPT-4 to boost your language skills.
I told you, every bloody article is about AI. In all seriousness, this is a very nice integration of existing tech into an existing app - a neat way of expanding services all by integrating an API. Get ready for AI-powered mindfulness, AI-powered food diaries, and AI-powered trading apps. A cheap way to bring in extra revenue
💸Commerce Corner💸

We need to talk about Shein. Having grown over 100% for 8 (!!!) straight years, the cost of condensing a 3-week supply chain into 3 days is piling up, and not just in landfills. This presents us with an early AI success story- as they use the tech to comb Google trends and competitor sites to provide eerily accurate recommendations, and then mobilize to make them real, faster than ever previously possible.
The implication here is obvious: more fast fashion = more waste. With growing consumer awareness of this, especially amongst Gen Z, it will be interesting to see how Shein overcomes this, or stick to a formula that’s working- for better or for worse.

Speaking of future threats, Temu is set to launch in Australia this month, having already surpassed Amazon and Shein in US app downloads within 6 months. Backed by Chinese giant Pinduoduo, the e-commerce platform will trade a huge profit loss by hawking even more “too good to be true”-priced items down under to expand reach.
As always, if it looks like a lemon, squawks like a lemon, it probably is. But with wallets tightening globally, ease and convenience reigning supreme, we’d expect to see replicated success on our shores. Watch this (potentially counterfeit) space.
🤓Technology & Tracking🤓

Hold on to your hats, nerds! Salesforce is teaming up with OpenAI to bring some serious wizardry to their CRM game. With a little help from Einstein GPT, customers can now wave their magic wands (or type natural-language prompts) to create dynamic content that adapts to changing customer needs in real-time
Salesforce is collaborating with OpenAI to integrate generative AI technology called Einstein GPT into their AI models, allowing customers to use natural-language prompts to create adaptive content in real-time within their CRM. The data comes from Salesforce's AI models and real-time data from the Salesforce Data Cloud.
